Bengal Cats Directory BENGAL CATS NEEDING A NEW HOME The Bengal is a medium to large domestic
feline that originates from crossings of the small Asian Leopard Cat (ALC)
to the domestic cat in an attempt to create a companion with an "exotic"
look but a domestic temperament. After four to five generations of
Bengal-to-Bengal breeding, the breed is recognized for championship
competition by most international domestic cat associations including TICA,
ACFA, GCCF, and AACE. The Bengal is one of the most beautiful
and engaging domestic cats in the world. The
Bengal is a relatively new breed of cat which was first bred in the U.S.A
and was originally created by crossing an Asian Leopard Cat with a domestic
cat. The domestic Bengal derives its name from the Latin name of its wild
ancestor, Felis Bengalensis (Asian Leopard Cat). Whilst the domestic Bengal
is similar in appearance to the Asian Leopard cat, and its genetic makeup
contains a contribution from that wild cat species, its temperament however
is purely domestic. KitznKatz a TICA registered, Veterinary Inspected

Bengals are fun! How
lucky we all are to have pets like these! Are we too
enthusiastic? Nah, Bengals really are charming as well as
great to look at. From traits such as playing in water and
playing fetch, Bengals are a step above other felines when it
comes to playtime. Bengals do bond with their owners. Male and
female alike are affectionate. If you have more than one cat,
they will not depend on you as much. If you have only one
Bengal, be prepared for a sleeping buddy, and a lap cat. When
you come home, they greet you with a need for love. I have a
3-year-old son and they even cuddle with him, never exposing
their claws. When you decide to make the move to a Bengal cat,
it is a refreshing change.
The Bengal Cat is a beautiful
pedigree domestic cat which originated in America in the
1960’s as a result of crossing Asian leopard Cats with
domestic cats. Through careful selective breeding and after
much hard work these pioneering breeders in the States
produced the Bengals we know and love today. The breed was
introduced into Great Britain at the beginning of the 1990’s
and has achieved great popularity very quickly due to it’s
unique pedigree, superb coat and excellent dependable
temperament. All over the world breeders are striving to
improve and enhance this already captivating breed still
further and it is the role of clubs such as the Bengal Cat
Club of Great Britain to play an active part in both the
future developments and the general welfare of the breed. The
club exists not only for breeders, but also owners and
admirers of the Bengal cat and takes an active part in
promoting the breed to the general public. For members there
is a club newsletter which has a wide range of articles
personal experiences and anecdotes, health issues, humour etc.
The club is now one of the larger Pedigree Cat clubs in Great
Britain and is a TICA chartered club. The club is also pleased
to be affiliated to the
